چکیده

Objective: Elbow extension deficit following brachial plexus injuries can sometimes be overlooked. flexion is more prominent in the early stages of obstetric paralysis and used as an indication for nerve surgery. However, future deficits may become numerous. Residual disabilities paralyses dynamically addressed by tendon transfers. In patients with paralysis, canonical donor muscles such deltoid or biceps insufficient restoration elbow extension. The brachialis muscle, because its deep secluded position, considered one recent options selection a these patient groups. this study, efficiency to triceps transfer both shoulder abduction was assessed. Materials Methods: Seven obstetrical palsy varying degrees sequelae around underwent procedure. All had previously undergone modified Hoffer Ranges motion joints were recorded before and after transfer. A minimum M3+ set prerequisite Results: improved from median -70° (interquertile range, IQR: 20º) -10° (IQR: 35º) follow-up (p<0.05). Shoulder 140° 5º) 170° 15º) power found diminished M4 (Q1: M3+, Q3: M5) M3 M3, M3+) Conclusions: Brachialis suitable alternative palliative surgery terms Loss within acceptable range.

Free functional gracilis muscle transfer in children with severe sequelae from obstetric brachial plexus palsy

We present 4 children between 6 and 13 years suffering from severe sequelae after a total obstetric brachial plexus lesion resulting in a hand without functional active long finger flexion. They had successfully reanimated long finger flexion using a free functional gracilis muscle transfer. These children initially presented a total obstetric brachial plexus palsy without neurotisation of the ...

Nerve Transfer for Elbow Extension in Obstetrical Brachial Plexus Palsy.

Dear Editor, The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the option of triceps muscle restoration by means of selective neurotisation of the radial nerve in children suffering from obstetrical brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) during their early years of life. Early nerve surgery, which includes both brachial plexus reconstruction and nerve transfers, is generally accepted as the best option for treatin...

Triceps to biceps transfer for restoration of elbow flexion following upper brachial plexus injury

INTRODUCTION Upper brachial plexus injury in adults causes loss of elbow fl exion; when the primary nerve surgery has failed or the patient seeks treatment after 12 months of injury and pedicled muscle transfers are required. Most commonly, the latissimus dorsi or the Steindler flexorplasty is used. MATERIAL AND METHODS We have transferred one of the heads of triceps muscle to restore the elb...

Posterior elbow capsulotomy with triceps lengthening for treatment of elbow extension contracture in children with arthrogryposis.

BACKGROUND Flexion of one elbow is essential to enable children with arthrogryposis to achieve independent function such as self-feeding and self-care of the face and hair. We analyzed the outcomes of posterior elbow capsulotomy with triceps lengthening for the treatment of elbow extension contractures in a series of children with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. METHODS The medical record...
